Sunderland to sign Cisse on loan

Quote:
"An agreement in principle has been reached between OM and Sunderland for the loan of Djibril Cisse to the English club," said a Marseille statement.

He added: "Some details still need to be sorted out ahead of the confirmation of the loan."

Cisse scored 13 league goals in two injury-hit seasons for Liverpool, during which time he suffered two broken legs.

He spent the 2006/07 season on loan at Marseille before making the move permanent last summer. His contract runs until 2012.

He has thrived since leaving Anfield, scoring 16 league goals last season and re-establishing his international credentials, although he was left out of France's Euro 2008 squad.

However, he has publicly stated his desire to leave Ligue 1 and return to England.

Fellow Anfield old boy El-Hadji Diouf recently signed for Sunderland, who kicked off the season with a 1-0 defeat against Liverpool.

While at Liverpool, he purchased a large home in Cheshire that came with the title Lord of the Manor of Frodsham.

Sunderland have also been linked with Fulham striker David Healy, with Dickson Etuhu lined up in a swap deal, and manager Roy Keane has not ruled out moving the midfielder on.

"I'm not really looking to let any players go, but if an offer comes in for one or two of my players, like every other manager I've got to balance the books," he said.

"I've brought lots of players in and if I feel there's an offer that we think is a good offer, obviously I'd consider it.

"I've heard managers say certain players aren't for sale, trust me, if the price is right then everybody is for sale. There is nothing happening with that yet, but again we'll see in the next few days."

He could help them adding depth to the squad they will have a chance to stay up again this year and build on moving up the table.

ya and it didn't help they lost there first game this year. Torres' goal to beat them was nasty though.

yes a late goal after they had played well through most of the match. they should be ok to stay up as some of the other new sides dont have any depth at all and injuries will tell around xmas time.
My early tips for relegation would be West brom, fulham, stoke
